About

I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. Portland is a horrible, horrible place. Don’t ever ever go there, not even to visit. For some reason, people who go there never ever leave. I was a lucky one- I escaped. The beer is awful, the people mean, and the roses have thorns that stick you. There are trees and mountains everywhere, always in your way. It rains all the time. Every single day. Oh, and especially don’t go there in the late summer, because, well, just don’t. But enough about Stumptown…

I began writing fiction in fourth grade (a comic strip actually, about post-WWIII mutant penguins with advanced technology), and have written as a hobby ever since. Only recently have I actually thought to try this semi-professionally. I am having a blast, dusting off old stories (many of which I wrote in class instead of paying attention), updating them, practicing my craft, learning about the indie publishing world, and trying to find a viable market for mutant penguins. So far, I’ve published only shorter works, but I am very exited about my ‘Shattered Earth’ series I am currently writing and publishing. I also have two novels crawling to completion that I hope to have out in early-to-mid 2016.

In my 9-to-5 life, I am a research scientist, working in the heart of Silicon Valley in the nascent field of synthetic ecology. I study bacteria, our little friends, and I try to get them to do things they don’t want to do. I’m a home brewer, youth soccer coach, and big fan of Japanese food. I live with my loving wife and two wonderful children, who both seem to always be hungry, never ever tire, and do everything they can to keep me from writing.

Thanks for stopping by!
